Good suggestions to help folks navigate our voice mail more easily.

Another pet peeve is calling large companies and not being able to find an actual human being. When I encounter this I turn to the gethuman database at http://www.gethuman.com/us/index.html.

I love these short cuts, but you had an error in your cell phone short cuts in the episode. I'm a cingular/at&t user, and the pound (#) button is the magic move on my service to skip the outgoing message. I learned this because my best friend uses T-mobile and if I accidentally punch # on her message, I get the prompt to enter my PIN and access messages. I need to use the star (*) key to skip her message. (The two systems use the keys in reverse - on Cingular the star key gives me my PIN prompt - why, oh why is there no industry standard?)

Great podcasts on one of my favorite topics! On this most recent episode, I like your idea of telling callers how to skip your voicemail greeting and will incorporate that in my own. A suggestion to add: with one's office phone, it's a good idea to tell people when you'll be away from your office, for example when traveling or out for an appointment or seminar. If the call is urgent, the caller is informed and can move to Plan B.
