I use the website Kaboodle.com for my wishlist. It even has a way for people who buy you the gifts to mark them "purchased" so that other giftbuyers won't get you a duplicate. It has a Facebook application so that all my friends on Facebook can see my wish list as well. So far it has worked great, but I have a really hard time convincing my friends to sign up with it. For some reason, people don't like to ask for things, and so gift buying will continue to be stressful.

re: wanting nothing, I have a list set up for my favorite charities, so if someone balks at outright buying me something I assure them I like, they can be altruistic and donate any amount to a charity we both can agree on.

I've used TheThingsIWant.com for years to give people an IDEA of what I like and what my style is. They don't have to get me the $900 vase, but it's so pretty I had to add it. This is incredibly helpful when it comes to jewelry purchases too. But my favorite part is the private Shopping List. I can add items for all my friends and family with recipient tags, any time of the year. I can sort by tags or by price and even hand out ideas to shared friends and family as to what I think Maria will like for xmas.

Whenever people ask me, "What do you want for Christmas/your birthday/etc.?" I always tell them the same thing: NOTHING. I want nothing. I have too much stuff as it is. But you know what happens? They always get me something besides what I want. You, Stever, are one of the few people I can consistently count on to get me nothing. I wanted you to know I appreciate it.
