Do You Let People Subscribe You to Groups?

It's best to cut off clutter before it starts!

Social media is one form of clutter, especially when one of your friends "helpfully" sends you an invite to a new social site or adds you to a discussion group without asking.

Don’t let this happen! When someone adds you to a group, unsubscribe yourself immediately. Then if you’re really captured by the topic, watch the group for a few days.

Notice whether it’s interesting enough that you’re motivated to go back. Is it thought-provoking enough that you want to participate? Are the people in the group the people you want to spend time with in the future?

If the answer is yes, then by all means, rejoin. If the answer is no, however, then be assured there will be other groups in the future that will be a better fit.

Take the time you would have spent in the group, and use it to call some of your existing friends, and reconnect.
